Rooting for Sustainability: GEMS UIS’ Planting Initiative

The lands of UAE were infused with a vibrant spirit of sustainability and community recently as students and staff from GEMS United Indian School joined hands to participate in a tree planting initiative. This event, organized by Emirates Environmental Group Dubai and MAAN foundations along with Abu Dhabi Municipality, was a powerful testament to the collective commitment towards environmental stewardship and the nurturing of a greener future.

The choice to plant Ghaf trees (The Tree of the Nation) due to their survival to withstand UAE's hot, saline environment exemplifies a holistic approach to environmental conservation and to promote long-term sustainability in the face of climate change.

Through hands-on participation, our students learned the importance of environmental responsibility and the positive impact of sustainable practices. The core values of GEMS Education, HPL and NIM which typically encompass qualities such as Collaboration & Concern for society, Conservation, Respect, Integrity, Responsibility, Volunteering, and Excellence, were clearly demonstrated by the students throughout the journey of planting trees on the land of UAE.
